Cargo Bikes are bicycles (or tricycles or quadricycles) designed to carry loads, both heavy and light. Cargo bicycles have different shapes, from the traditional short john, to the three-wheeled cargo-trike models, to the four-wheeled frames with electric pedal motors for specific commercial needs. To remain in the category defined "velocipedes" by Art. 50 of Legislative Decree 285 dated 30/4/92 must comply with the required dimensions

Le due principali tipologie di cargo rispondono ad esigenze e preferenze diverse. La due ruote è indicata per chi ha già dimestichezza con l'uso della bici perchè l'operatività ne è molto simile. Serve solo familiarizzare con l'interasse allungato, ma una volta partiti la differenza non si nota più. La tre ruote invece forniscono una stabilità costante e anche da fermo non c'è bisogno di mettere i piedi a terra. La guida è rilassata e sempre in posizione eretta poichè non è possibile inclinare il mezzo. L'andatura è moderata. La scelta tra le due tipologie dipende strettamente dall'utilizzo predominante che se ne intende fare.
